The Power of Example
Ten years ago this month I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. A day I had anticipated for a long time. My decision to be baptized was the greatest I have ever made. It has brought into my life the greatest joy imaginable. I was first introduced to the Church in Frankfurt, Germany. Many friends where such great examples to me. The testimonies and conviction of the gospel which you dear friends had is what drew me to a desire to know for myself the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since that wonderful day back ten years ago, I have been married and sealed to a wonderful worthy priesthood holder, in the Frankfurt temple, the country where I was first introduced to the Church. I have been blessed with three beautiful children. Thank you to each of you who has set an amazing example to me and gave me a foundation on which plant a seed of faith and has sprouted into a glorious tree. Generations to come will thank each of you for standing strong and immovable in your conviction and example to live the gospel and be a light to others.

Back to My Roots
What's up, Frankfurters??
I feel almost at home here in Florence, Italy this summer! I WISH I could go up to Frankfurt and poke around, but unfortunately that's not in the piggy bank this year. My husband is teaching a study abroad class (like he did in 2006), but this time the whole family came. We're having such a wonderful time exploring this beautiful city! I'm also doing research for the book I'm writing about my Italian great-grandfather. It's been lots of fun and I'm off to Genoa by myself tomorrow to try to see some military archives. I hope they take pity on me and let me get the info I need!
I hope you're all having a great summer!!
Love,
Michelle

Hey all
Just a quick note to say why I've been gone forever... I was in a car accident last month... 10 days after my 28th birthday... way to start things off eh? Anyhoo, I was rear-ended. It wasn't good. I drive a tank basically. So instead of the car absorbing the impact - I did... Yay me... So I've been in and outta hospitals and doctors offices for the last few weeks and it's not been fun. So yeah there ya have it... I'm also in the process of unpacking all my stuff (NOT FUN) cause I finally moved in to my new diggs... WHOOT WHOOT!!! But I've gotta take it really really easy cause I can't lift more than like 5 lbs at a time. It sucks. Anyhoo I gotta get back to work. L8rs!

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! My kids were so cute!
Timmy wore the dinosaur suit, Ben wore the baby elephant suit, Neal was the elephant keeper, I was the "We Can Do It!" lady, and Caleb was Robin Hood (but with brown and orange fabric because that's all I had on hand). They had a great time at the Church Trunk-or-Treat. They were a little mystified, but as soon as that wore off, Timmy had no qualms sticking his hand into people's bags repeatedly!

Ahhh Monday
So I just got back from my first vacay in ages!!! A whole week! I spent it frolicking like mad with my best friend through Disney World and Universal Studios, hiking, swimming and even a bit of stargazing in the country! I can't believe how many stars I was able to see at my friend's house. Truly beautiful. It was a helluva way to celebrate my birthday. ^_~ We had a blast... alas now it's back to the grindstone and the humdrum of emergencies and paperwork...

Anyone Need a Gmail Account?
If anyone needs a Gmail account please feel free to email me and I can send you an "invitation". I guess it's easier to make a post if you have a Gmail account. I love Gmail, but you can just use it for blogging if you want.

Hello from the Deep South
Of all places for me to end up, it had to be the deep south. Land of College football fanatics. Luckily for me I'm married to one (Go Tennessee!!!). So in keeping with form, let me tell you what I've been up to for the past 10 years (man it seems longer after you type it!).
After graduation, we were transferred to Tampa, FL. I went to the University of South Florida and then transferred up to Bentley College just outside of Boston when my family was transferred again to Houston, TX. I graduated with a B.S. in Finance and found myself in Hartford, CT right out of college. Jason and I met while I was working in CT as he was working in our Knoxville, TN office. We married in February 2003. Alexandra is turning 4 this year and Isabella, our latest addition, made her debut in June of this year. It is amazing how much you can get done even with kids. I managed to get my MBA in December 2005 (Alexandra gave me all the answers). We just moved into our first home and am glad to say that all that moving around as a kid sure has helped out.

A Word from the South
I guess I'll take this chance to make my update! Ten years... Let's see. I left F.I.S. in 1997 and went to Ricks College in Idaho. I got my Associates in Psychology. Then, I went to Brigham Young University in Utah and finished my B.S. in Human Development with the plan to go on to get a Masters in Family Therapy. But, I decided to have my own family of guinea pigs first. Haha! Actually, I met the most wonderful guy during my senior year and we got married the summer we both graduated (2002).
Our first adventure was moving to San Antonio, Texas for his Masters in Fine Arts degree. He finished in December 2004 and was teaching part-time at the university until we finally got our first full-time teaching position at Stephen F. Austin State University in East Texas. We love it here! It's a small town, quiet, and beautiful. Full of tall trees.
On the home front, we've had THREE kids. Crazy, I know. But, we have fun and I've always been family-oriented. I'd actually like to go to law school when they're older, and for now I'm content to give them the best childhood I can. And before you go thinking that my life is all diapers and laundry (almost!), I am getting valuable training in construction truck identification, playdough-making, medicine, and playing referee. Life is never dull with three little boys!
It's great to look back at all the fun times in high school and to see how far everyone has come since then. Happy Ten Years!
Ciao,
Michelle
